Video Multiplexers / Demultiplexers

Video Multiplexers

  • 496-8 :  Colorado Video's newest video multiplexer, the 496-8 transmits two to eight video signals over a single channel by time-sharing on a frame or field basis (each frame includes two fields).  Each frame or field is identified by a source-number code inserted in the multiplexed signal's vertical blanking interval by the multiplexer to allow correct demultiplexing.  The 496-8 brings higher, eight-channel, capacity, a smaller footprint, lower price, and optional rack mounting to the Model 496 Multiplexer series.

  • 496 : The Model 496 Video Multiplexer/ Inserter transmits two to four video signals over a single channel by time-sharing on a frame or field basis (each frame includes two fields).  Each frame or field is identified by a source-number code inserted in the multiplexed signal's vertical blanking interval by the multiplexer to allow correct demultiplexing.  In the multiplexer mode the 496 automatically sequences through all available input sources.

  • 496A & 496B Ruggedized Multiplexers : The 496A Multiplexer is constructed of MIL spec or extended temperature parts wherever practical for operation between -25 to +70 degrees C.  The 496B is constructed of commercial grade parts for temperatures between zero to +50 degrees C.  Both 496 A and B are intended to survive harsh acceleration and vibration typically encountered in remotely controlled vehicles or high performance aircraft.  These units occupy a 5 inch cube excluding cabling.  Avionics panel, if present, is 5.75 x 5.25 inches, weight is less than five pounds.  The power requirement is 28 VDC

Video Demultiplexers

  • 497-1 :  The Model 497-1 Video Demultiplexer receives a multiplexed signal and produces a continuous video output of a user-selected channel carried on the single transmission link.  Each incoming video frame or field is identified by its code and stored in a digital memory for continuous output until the next appropriate frame or field is received.  The resulting display is nearly indistinguishable from normal video.

  • 497-1S : The Model 497-1S Set-Top Demultiplexer separates one user-selected, multiplexed channel from the 496s' multiplexed outputs and provides it as a standard video signal.

  • 497-4 : The Model 497-4 Video Demultiplexer receives the multiplexed signal and produces a continuous video output of each of the channels carried on the single transmission link.  Each incoming video frame or field is identified by its code and stored in a digital memory for continuous output until the next appropriate frame or field is received.  The resulting displays are nearly indistinguishable from normal video.  With the 497, the multiplexed outputs from four sources result in 7.5 frames per second, versus the normal 30 frames per second with conventional video.  The 497 is also available in one, two and three memory versions, indicated by 497-1, 497-2, and 497-3.
